As a young boy Kevin Earp listened to many stories from his Grandmother Earp about the family’s heritage and relationship to Wyatt Earp and brothers who were involved in the legendary 1881 Tombstone, Arizona gunfight known as the “Shootout at the O.K. Corral”. Around 100 years later, Kevin’s father took Kevin and his brother Brad to shoot handguns in an obscure West Virginia location so they could learn how to handle a gun. The experience was not pleasant for Kevin and to this day he does not own a firearm, but he still believes in the family tradition of protecting people, especially children who should be safe, especially while in the school environment.
Earp Safety understands our ancestor’s need for guns as a way of survival both professionally and personally. But the greatest lesson we have learned from “Uncle Wyatt” is that when it comes to the safety of those who we are committed to protect a well-trained, competent, and loyal posse is essential.
